Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results; we do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent by email are retained as needed to prepare a response. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive certain technical details when a page loads:
- Your device’s IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Viewed pages and time spent on them
- A referring website, when available
- The date and time of each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help show how visitors move through the website, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this traffic information for reporting. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some website features operate.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Routing a submitted search to the applicable outside provider
- Understanding which pages visitors use and where revisions may help
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database containing personal criminal-record information. The website provides general directions to records held by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Vermilion Parish Clerk and local courts, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information, and the Louisiana State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed here. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider’s privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review its terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to VPSO, the Vermilion Clerk, Louisiana agencies, courts, legal-aid resources, or commercial search services. Once you leave this website, the destination’s privacy terms govern. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to observe activity across websites for interest-based advertising. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Search providers that process a query you choose to submit
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement authorities when a valid legal order compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, it will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies where you live. Louisiana’s Public Records Law, R.S. 44:1 et seq., governs access to records held by public custodians; R.S. 15:579 and 15:587 separately restrict and authorize dissemination from the state criminal-history repository. Those statutes do not convert this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request a copy of personal information we retain about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
Effective date: July 26, 2026
