Terms of Use

These terms govern access to this website and its content. Visiting a page, using a search feature, or reading material on the site means that you accept the conditions below. If you disagree with any condition, you must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This is an independently operated private website, not a local, Louisiana, or federal government service. The site and its advertising partners do not provide tools for employment, credit, tenant, insurance, or other screening regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This resource helps readers locate Vermilion Parish and Louisiana criminal-record sources. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation business.

1. What This Website Is

Vermilion Parish Criminal History is a privately maintained reference website with no connection to a government office. It does not keep official records, conduct official background checks, retrieve files on a visitor's behalf, or submit documents for users.

The website directs readers to the custodians of Vermilion Parish criminal records, including the sheriff, criminal courts, the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information, and the Louisiana State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. It may also connect visitors to outside research tools. Public access to government records remains governed by the Louisiana Public Records Law, R.S. 44:1 et seq., while repository dissemination is limited by laws including R.S. 15:579 and R.S. 15:587.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of using the website, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Louisiana, or local law
  • Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate another person with information found here
  • Use site content for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt to enter accounts, servers, or systems without authorization
  • Deploy scrapers, bots, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's ability to use it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information reached through this site to discriminate against, harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate anyone. Such conduct may also violate criminal law. This restriction is especially important for information from the Louisiana State Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. Louisiana law limits misuse of registry information, and unlawful action against a registrant can carry criminal consequences. Registry access is intended for public-safety awareness, not vigilantism, housing discrimination, employment blacklisting, or retaliation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency for purposes of the FCRA. It produces no credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer services designed to evaluate job candidates, rental applicants, insurance risk, or creditworthiness. You agree that site information and linked tools will not be used to:

  • Make a hiring, firing, or other employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter, housing applicant, or tenancy
  • Assess creditworthiness or determine an insurance premium
  • Decide eligibility for a government benefit, permit, or license
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

Anyone who needs a check for a regulated purpose must use an appropriate official channel through the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information and is not legal advice. Although the pages describe how records commonly work in Vermilion Parish, they cannot determine how a warrant, arrest, charge, conviction, or expungement law affects a specific person. A licensed Louisiana attorney should be consulted for advice about an individual matter.

6. No Warranties

The website and all of its content are supplied "as is." No promise or warranty is made that:

  • Site content will always be complete, accurate, or current
  • Pages will remain available without delays or interruption
  • Partner search results will be accurate or comprehensive
  • The website will contain no errors, vulnerabilities, or software defects

Criminal-record information can change as charges are filed or dismissed and records are sealed or expunged. Updates may not appear at the same time in every system, and gaps can occur. Nothing published here is an official representation by a court, sheriff, Louisiana State Police, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Pages may link to courts, sheriff offices, Louisiana agencies, legal-aid resources, and independent search providers. Following an external link takes the visitor to a service outside this site's control. We do not accept responsibility for an outside provider's availability, prices, privacy practices, accuracy, or content. Review that provider's own terms before using its service.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the site's writing, design, graphics, logos, and code belong to Vermilion Parish Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, redistributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written authorization.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses or damages arising from use of this website. This limitation includes harm connected to a decision based on information obtained from these pages or from an external service linked here.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless against claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or your violation of these terms. This obligation includes reasonable legal expenses and related costs.

11. Governing Law

Louisiana law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from access to or use of the website must be brought in a court located in Louisiana.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated language is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or end a person's access to the site at any time, without advance notice and for any reason.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only to the extent required to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
